Lessons & Getting Started
Q: Do I need my own guitar to start lessons?
A: It’s best if you have one for practice at home, but if you’re unsure what to buy, I can recommend affordable, reliable options.
Q: Do you teach complete beginners?
A: Absolutely. Many of my students start from scratch, and I’ll guide you step by step at your pace.
Q: What styles of music do you teach?
A: I teach a wide range including pop, rock, blues, acoustic, and fingerstyle — but lessons are always tailored to the songs and skills you want to learn.
Q: Do I need to own my own guitar to get started?
A: It's important to have your own guitar to practice, otherwise there will be no improvement at all. if you want to try it out before you commit to buying your own, you can take advantage of my guitar hire service. Just get in touch to ask about it.
Location & Formats
Q: Where are lessons held?
A: Most students come to my private studio in Port Talbot, South Wales. I also offer online lessons for those further away.
Q: Do you teach groups or just individuals?
A: Both. I run one-to-one lessons, small group sessions, and school peripatetic teaching.
Progress & Exams
Q: Can I follow a grade syllabus?
A: Yes. I prepare students for RGT and LCM grades, from initial levels through to advanced exams.
Q: What if I just want to play for fun?
A: No problem at all — plenty of my students learn outside of exams. Lessons can focus on songs, technique, and creativity instead.
Fees & Booking
Q: How much do lessons cost?
A: Lessons are £14 per 30-minute session. Group rates and school bookings are available on request.
